It’s been a quick 8 days since we left Michigan and although we’re already feeling the weight of exhaustion trying to slow us down, we couldn’t be more happy with our stint in Ireland. We rented a car at Dublin Airport and headed west on the wrong side of the road to County Kerry where we spent a lot of time just exploring. We circled the Ring of Kerry, drove north on the Gap of Dunloe, and did a figure eight on the Dingle Peninsula. A big surprise came on day two when we ran into a former co-worker who was also in Ireland! (After a quick check of my social media accounts, I confirmed with a fair amount of certainty that she was the only other person I knew on the island, and of the approximate 7,200 pubs in Ireland, we somehow went to the same one at the same time).
Meeting old friends in unexpected places
We spent one full day in The Midlands, despite being told not to go by several locals over a few beers. They gave us some great advice and several very detailed descriptions of County Offaly, which I am not even able to re-word using language that’s appropriate for this blog. Despite the advice not to go, we did, and still found the nature, castles, and other attractions quite nice.

Kinnitty Castle, The Midlands
Our last day was spent in Dublin where we did a three hour long free walking tour where we learned about the history of Ireland, the layout of the city, and most importantly, where to buy Guinness that doesn’t cost €8. This leg of our trip comes to a bittersweet end as we leave a rainy, fall like climate for one of the hottest regions we expect to encounter this year. Spain, here we come!
Quoting our walking tour guide..."Look for the statue of Molly Malone, you'll know you've found her when you look into her big pair of beautiful eyes!"
Wow! This is fun. Great writing Ricardo.
