*We had an incredibly difficult time getting a reservation ahead of time in Ages (very tiny town and no one answers the phone or email). We sent our bags to the Municipal Albergue in hopes of getting a bed when we got there. We left at 6:30 a.m. that morning and made it to Ages early afternoon and got a bed next door at El Pajar de Ages, which had an amazing pilgrim menu (the paella was excellent!) and was well worth the stay! We recommend reserving ahead of time through this website we found afterwards: www.onlypilgrims.com

Windmills and Wheat Fields
We've completed week two and are still enjoying our time on the Camino. Our days have gotten longer in this section and we pass the time by singing and practicing our Spanish with each other (but, mostly singing). We have gone through one too many wheat fields in the last few days and we see windmills on the road ahead for hours that we never seem to make it to some days. We're looking forward to getting to the next region of the Cantabrian Mountains, but we have a few more days of shadeless wheat fields first. Of course, after walking all day we're ready to sight see in our new town for the night and celebrate with our new friends we've met along 'the way.'

Good Mornin' Sunshine!
We had to change our schedule to get up much earlier during week two in order to avoid the hot afternoons on our long days. It has been well worth the beautiful sunrises we've been getting every morning!

- If you plan to start walking at 6:30 a.m., make sure you can get coffee within 3 miles for your spouse (otherwise there's not much singing...) :)
- Shoes are a big deal. Yes, you need good walking shoes for stepping on rocks. What the books don't tell you is that you need good walking shoes for rock roads for 16+ miles at a time.
- Snoring is real. Good earplugs and an eye mask that are properly used are an amazing thing when staying in the albergues.
- Everything closes on Sundays in Spain. Make sure you have enough supplies for the long walk the next day if you get to a town on a Sunday!
